Individual Counseling

Individuals seek counseling for a wide variety of reasons. I work with individuals dealing with the following issues:

• Depression

• Anxiety

• Grief and loss

• Divorce recovery

• Emotional regulation

• Self-esteem

• Family of origin

• Emotional and sexual intimacy

• Infidelity / Affair Recovery

• Relationship issues

I use a variety of methods in my work with individuals, including cognitive and behavioral therapy approaches, solution-focused therapy, interpersonal therapy, mindfulness meditation techniques, guided imagery techniques and relationship skills training.

Indeed, many individuals initiate counseling because of relationship issues, whether with a spouse, children, one’s own parents or siblings, friends or professional colleagues. Whenever relationship issues are a prominent part of what a person wants to work on in individual therapy, I introduce the core communication and relationship skills from the Relationship Enhancement® approach in order to help that person begin to alter his or her patterns of behavior and in this manner improve that person’s interpersonal relationships.
